Let's
face it. The Tahitian islands are all about relaxation. The Polynesian lifestyle
assures that.
With the exception of just a few sports activities, people in Tahiti
Polynesia just aren't in a hurry, no matter what they're doing! Raiatea and Tahaa Islands definately suit this classic, laid-back
attitude.
This page is here to help plant the seeds
of relaxation in your vacation and perhaps assist you in choosing or pre-planning
a specific activity.
Relax and enjoy as you review your choices of relaxation
on Raiatea and Tahaa Islands.
This is your RELAXATION guide to Raiatea & Tahaa...

MOTU
PICNICS
Relaxing
and picnicking on a motu is one of the most wonderful things you can do in
French Polynesia. There are several MOTUS that can be found in and around the lagoon that Raiatea and Tahaa share. Some
of them are uninhabited and several have no common names... This is part of
their allure. If you can get to them, you essentially find yourself on a "deserted
"- like in a dream.
One of the favorite things to do on a
Motu is have a picnic. A few companies specialize in getting you to these
motus and having great picnics. Usually, these motu picnics are combined on
a lagoon excursion or circle island tour of some kind, and will last anywhere
from 1-4 hours, but 1/2 day or even full days motus are available on your
request. A typical motu picnic will consist of local fruits and juices, bread,
and polynesian lunch style foods such as fish, rice, chicken, or other gourmet
items. The menu will depend on your host.
See the list of qualified tour operators
below that can arrange a motu picnic for you.

BUS
& MINI VAN TOURS

relaxing and interesting way to see and learn about the islands of Raiatea
or Tahaa is to take a land tour via bus or mini van.
Most of these tours will
circle the islands at a leisurely pace, stopping at all the sightseeing spots.

SUNSET
CRUISES
Enjoying
a sunset cruise of the shared lagoon of Raiatea and Tahaa is one of the most relaxing
and enjoyable activities you can do in French Polynesia. This
is what these islands are all about... truly enjoying the peace and tranquility
of the South Pacific from the water.
Typically, these cruises consist of a yacht
or boat heading out into the lagoon around 4:00 or so, in plenty of time to
enjoy the spectacular colors of the setting sun. You'll sail or cruise around
as you sip Tahitian cocktails and learn about the history and facts of the islands.
2 or 3 hours later, you'll be back in the harbour with a wonderful and lasting
memory of Polynesia.
Here's a great choice for a sunset cruise:

NIGHTLIFE
& ENTERTAINMENT
There are a few restaurants Uturoa, Raiatea,
where you can go out at night and have a drink after dinner, but, as with most
of the other islands of French Polynesia, it's barely a scene qualifying for
"nightlife or entertainment"....
As for the singles or dating scene, we recommend bringing
your own honey...If you want to check out what scene there is, try the following
places... but don't expect to go clubbing all night.
LE ZENITH (nightclub)
